Art is a way for me to connect toa a time or feeling in my life through a graphic representation. My goal is to bring the observer inth the present moment or take them away to a previous one. Each of my prints are derivavtive of a specific place and time in my liife that I felt strongly connected to. Usually it's a momentin life marked by tranquility or a state of bliss. Traveling and exploring is my usual toure to inspiration, starting with taking pictures of things that I feel represent what I'm connecting to. Photography does an amazing job at describing our surroundings with accuracy and minutia, but they usually do very little in describing the human experience behind the camera. When visiting an inspiring place, you experience colors more vibrantly, patterns are more profound, and the composition of the moment within our minds contain far more emotional information than any photograph can describe.
I work through Silkscreen in order to pick up where the camera left off by taking these images a step further in describing a vivacious moment in life. I reimagine the place and time, adding new layers of patterns and color that exaggerate the image to the level on which we experience it. My favorite park about creating a piece is when an observor tells me that it reminds them of a place in their own life that is different from where I took the photo. The imagery of bodies of water, cityscapes, and trees are things that can be reinterpreted again and again based upon a person's own experiences.
